Walter Mondale, Carter's vp from 1977 to 1980 and presidential candidate in 1980, sees a distinct parallel between the hellish difficulties faced by the Carter administration in the late '70s and the seemingly equally hellish difficulties facing the Obama administration today.

This article seems to have the same concerns that I have had about the President Obama. President Obama made a big mistake by leaving everything to congress, and not showing enough fighting spirit. I agree with Mr. Mondale that President Obama has a great opportunity to change things, but he is going about it the wrong way. I say " Speak loudly and carry a big stick as well."
